AI Agents Explained

It's been around two years since OpenAI's ChatGPT hit the public consciousness, and in that time, many of us have interacted with an LLM chatbot, asking it a variety of questions and getting a response back where we chose to use that answer for something else, or not. What is an AI Agent?

In simple terms, an AI agent is a goal-oriented system that can independently plan, reason, and take actions over a number of different steps. All of which can occur with minimal human intervention. This represents a very powerful system that can now carry out specific jobs.
